The Cambridge branch of Amnesty International has launched a new campaign against torture, with the support of MP Julian Huppert.
The project, which is part of the charity’s global Stop Torture campaign, also has the backing of Freedom from Torture and the Cambridge World Development Movement.
Praising the organisation’s efforts, Huppert said: “This is a hugely worthwhile campaign. Every day in countries across the world men, women and children are being subjected to barbaric and inhumane practices while governments do nothing to stop it.”
He added: “I urge everyone to support this campaign so that we can end the terror of those who are living with the threat of torture. We cannot begin to know what that’s like.”
