“The goal of Chinese education is to get you a job after graduation,” says experimental animator Ray Lei. “They don’t expect you to come up with original ideas.” Thankfully, though, the 26 year old never learned to toe the line.

Lei’s hectic, imaginative and visually spectacular style has earned him a well-deserved reputation around the world as an animator to watch. Now, his short film Big Hands Oh Big Hands is coming to Cambridge, as part of a special London International Animation Festival screening at the Cambridge Picturehouse on Saturday.
